Dear community, the zCloak team hopes you enjoyed your Christmas & New Year holiday, and had a wonderful experience with our Christmas card event. Last year, zCloak Network launched the Event around Christmas time. It lasted from December 24 until January 15. We sincerely hope that you can feel the magic of the new era of expressing social relations through it. As we finalized the prizes last week, here’s a recap on everything that happened.

As you may already know, we launched the beta version of the zkID Credential Platform in August 2022, and have held many interesting events with it, including the Membership Credential Event and the World Cup zk-Guessing Event. In terms of the first event, you were able to try the interaction with zCloak as an attester to your membership credential; in the World Cup event, you could try the “issue” function to make self-commitments in the form of credentials; and in this Christmas Card event, we want to introduce a new interaction approach using our Credential Platform, which is you can interact with each other (other individuals) by sending a Chrismas card, and attest to each other’s statement of relationship with you.

During the event, users were encouraged to send Chrismas cards to friends, family members, colleagues or other members from our Discord community (we opened a channel in our Discord server to enable sharing of zkIDs within the community). In this case, everyone can either be a claimer or an attester. Once the receivers are approved of the stated relationship on the Christmas cards they were sent to, the senders will be given back the attested credentials. As the event was spreading in the community, we also held an explanation AMA with YouTube Live to better explain the event process. 600+ members were there to support us live, and we also published the recording tutorial to our YouTube channel.

We are excited to share that 13,892 zkIDs were newly registered to join us for this new type of proof of social relations. 15,052 claims for the Christmas Card 2022 credential have been created in total. We happily sent out our prizes to 1000+ participants who claimed and attested successfully more than three credentials from different zkIDs with our special zCloak Christmas Elf credential, and we also rewarded our top 20 claimers with our Christmas edition Mystery Boxes, which will be opened in future events. By the way, it is worth mentioning that 91 Christmas cards were successfully sent by our top prize winner, bravo!

This Christmas Card event was a milestone for zCloak Network on delivering the Web3 dream of self-sovereignty, as we were able to provide an approach for social relations to be expressed in a privacy-preserving way. Looking back at 2022, zCloak continued our exploration on our end-to-end encryption zkID Credential Platform, our zkID Wallet which is capable of securely storing DID and VC information, and our zkID Login function with developer-friendly SDK which enables the data stored in the zkID Wallet to interact with third-party website front-ends. With all these products and technologies, this Christmas Card event is our first attempt at Web3 private social relations at user level. Even though we are in the Web3 world, we still believe not every piece of information needs to be completely public and out in the open. We want to provide a possibility for sensitive and subjective beliefs of private information to stay private, and to give users sovereignty over to whom and how they want to present their own data.

Finally, zCloak was thrilled to see so many users tested out this new interation approach throughout this event. Meanwhile, we will continue to bring more significant activities to our community members as we steadily move forward on the road to user privacy and data sovereignty! Stay tuned for our monthly updates and progress on our technology and products, let’s feel this brave new world together!
