Volume 2 Issue 10, 2023

Welcome to zCloak Network’s Monthly Update for December. Last month, zCloak team kept our regular pace to actively interact with other projects and participate in events. What’s more, we also made great headway on technology exploration. Let’s briefly go through all of them. FYI, this series of monthly newsletters are dedicated to keeping our community members up to date, so please follow us and stay tuned for more information!

Furthermore, as the holiday season approaches, we at zCloak would like to take a moment to wish you all a Happy New Year.

Product and Technology

Progress in ZKP

The zCloak team has made some good progress in the field of ZKP this month. Regarding STARK proof generation, we have made a UI which can help users without any programming experience to generate a ZK program by simply clicking and dragging on a webpage. This will greatly simplify the process of designing ZK programs for everyday use cases. Regarding STARK proof verification, we have succeeded in making a low-cost direct STARK proof verification in an EVM rollup. We will wrap this as a STARK proof verification service and provide it to all EVM chains. We expect to release the alpha version of both parts for public access in Jan. 2024.

Events

Christmas Card Events

On December 22nd, zCloak Network launched the “Best Wishes Christmas Events”, which will last till December 31st, and 5 more projects are participating. Till now, over 6,000 users have successfully minted our Christmas NFT issued on QustN. Besides, the winners of the lucky draw will be published on zCloak and collaborative projects’ official Twitter account shortly. Please stay tuned to the tweet.

There are two games involved in this Christmas Event. The Claimer of a card interacts with the Issuer through our zkID Card Center, a platform that allows users to send cards to each other and attest to each other’s statement of relationship with you.

Game 1 aims to encourage collaborative projects to send Christmas blessings to their community members in the form of Verifiable Credential, and gain exposure and attract users for projects at the mean time.

Game 2 provides a chance for users to show their care to their family, friends, colleagues, and other discord members by sending a special Christmas blessing card to them. In this case, everyone can either be a claimer or an issuer.

We sincerely hope that users can feel the magic of the new era of expressing social relations using zkID Card Center.

Web3Festival 2024

zCloak Network has confirmed to support the Web3Festival 2024 as Tertiary Exhibition Sponsor, taking place 6–9, April in Hong Kong.

Metale x Amphi AI-Enhanced Novel Proofreading Competition

zCloak is supporting Amphi and Metale on their AI-Enhanced Novel Proofreading Competition with digital certificate issuance and its subsequent empowerments. Using zCloak’s zkID privacy identity data card platform zkID Card, entities and individuals can easily manage their digital identity in a privacy-preserving manner. zCloak Network expects to work with Amphi and Metale in further product collaborations. By the end of December, card issuance has been finalized to competition participants.

Partnerships

zCloak x Ola

Ola and the zCloak Network are joining forces to develop zCloak’s advanced DID and verifiable computation infrastructure in the Ola ecosystem. This collaboration aligns with our mutual goal of enhancing privacy solutions and reinforcing user data ownership, indicating a focused approach towards improving digital privacy and user autonomy.

The amalgamation of Ola’s robust Layer 2 platform and zCloak Network’s innovative DID protocol represents a synergistic convergence of visions. Both zCloak and Ola are committed to enhancing privacy while maintaining regulatory balance, a crucial aspect in today’s digital landscape.

The Ola and zCloak Network partnership promises to significantly boost user privacy and data security. Integrating zCloak’s DID and computation technologies with Ola’s Layer 2 platform enhances digital interaction security and ensures user control over personal data, reducing data breach risks. ZKP used in zCloak enables users to verify transactions anonymously, maintaining data integrity and bolstering overall digital identity protection. This collaboration leads to a more secure digital space, empowering users with confidence in their online activities.

zCloak x JoyID

zCloak Network now supports JoyID Passkey solution as login method through all products, in addition to zkID Wallet login and other crypto wallet logins. zCloak has been trying to integrate as many login methods as possible, aiming to provide more options for user onboarding.

The JoyID Passkey solution brings about yet another convenient way for users to create a crypto/zkID account, which only requires the scan of FaceID or fingerprints. Using biometrics as master password is very straightforward for most general users, and we believe our collaboration is one step of the way towards better adoption both in the Web3 space, and in introducing more novel technology and products.

zCloak Network and JoyID are looking forward to our further collaborations to explore in various areas.

AMA

The Intersection of Privacy and Applications

On December 14th, DeThings held an exclusive interview with the founder of zCloak, w3tester.

w3tester emphasized the significance of data sovereignty and related technologies and discussed how they affect market trends and investment opportunities. He introduced the existing solutions for Web3 trust issues and analyzed the diverse application fields that require MPC, ZKP, TEE, homomorphic encryption, and other privacy computing technologies.

Besides, w3tester has shared zCloak’s opinion on privacy preservation and data sovereignty, proposing a solution that combines Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) and Decentralized Identifiers (DID) technologies, aiming to ensure the authenticity of source data and the accuracy of algorithms used to calculate data, thereby ensuring the correctness and credibility of the resulting data.
