Feb. 2022 Volume 2 Issue 1

Welcome to zCloak Network’s February Monthly Update. The zCloak team has been busy these months with product development and bringing the industry with more convenient tools and services. For last year’s brief version of what we did in 2022, you can follow this link to review. This month’s newsletter covers some updates on product and technology among the usual sections, so let’s have a quick look at what zCloak built in February. This series of monthly newsletters are dedicated to keeping our community members up to date, so please follow us and stay tuned for more information!

Product and Technology

zCloak Network began its core use case exploration in 2022 for Decentralized Identifier (DID) and Verifiable Credentials (VC), to learn thoroughly about what we’ve achieved in 2022 in terms of product and tech:https://medium.com/@zcloaknetwork/2022-zcloak-network-product-and-technology-overview-c7a070c54913

zCloak’s DID and verifiable credential protocol has been updated to a new version. Now we support public credentials on our platform. The zkID wallet has also been re-architectured to a multi-account wallet with support for Nostr keys. Regarding credential verification, it is now possible to verify the validity of a credential within an Ethereum smart contract. This makes zCloak’s DID/VC infrastructure interoperable with EVM Dapps on-chain.

Event

Collaboration with LegalNOW (by LegalDAO)

On Feb 27, LegalNOW was officially launched by our strategic partner LegalDAO as the world’s first self-service Web3 legal-solving platform. Many global Web3 legal experts are dedicated to this project. As zCloak has always been in deep conversations with the LegalDAO team, we will provide privacy-preserving identity services to LegalNOW professionals, and work closely with them to bring accurate and efficient Web3 legal solutions.

Onboard Hong Kong Cyberport

zCloak has been accepted into the Cyberport Incubation Programme in Hong Kong as a new member of the Cyberport community. zCloak Network is one of the six blockchain technology companies among 45 in total, successfully selected for the program.

zCloak hopes to apply our technology to decentralized applications and decentralized finance to promote technological innovation and digital transformation in the financial industry. We sincerely hope to bring more value and innovation to Hong Kong and global financial markets, and inject new vitality and energy into the digital economy, making Web3 in HK a new growth point and competitive advantage for Hong Kong.

Offline Event Paticipation

zCloak Network will be joining Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023 in April. It is a Web3 event brand jointly launched by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab and HashKey Group and undertaken by W3ME. The event will be held from 12 to 15 April, and is expected to attract more than 10,000 live audiences, more than 300 globally influential speakers, and more than 100 live Web3 projects, communities, and media.

We hope to see everyone this April in HK.

AMAs

Clutchy — — “Identity & Privacy for Gaming”

On Jan 4, Clutchy hosted an AMA with the topic of “Identity & Privacy for Gaming”. Speakers from zCloakNetwork, SuiNSdapp, BigBrainSui, and Origin Byte had their discussion about topics including gaming, identity, and the Sui ecosystem.

w3tester, the founder of zCloak, mentioned that digital signatures have different roles in different scenarios, the two most important of which are to confirm the ownership of information and to support the verification of licenses. It is known to all that in the Web2 world, the credibility of data is in most cases closely related to where the data is stored. If a user keeps his/her ID data in a text file on his/her computer, the verifier may have doubts about the authenticity of the data. Therefore, zCloak’s trusted nodes and ZKP come into play. If an authorized attester signs on the data, or even if trusted nodes in the network cross-sign the data of each other, then the problem of storage and trust can be solved.

SquareDao & 2DAO3 Twitter Space

On Feb 11, SquareDao and 2DAO3 co-hosted an AMA on “Wallet, DID, Nostr, which will be the entry point for billion users to Web3?” Many Web3 world developers and project founders presented as speakers as shown in the poster above.

w3tester, zCloak Network founder, shared some ideas about the potential integration between Nostr and zCloak, which includes ZKP’s application to personal social data. For zCloak, our ZKP technology is relatively mature for social scenarios and now is in the closed beta-test phase, and Nostr gives us a large-scale network to distribute and use zero-knowledge proof data. We believe working with Nostr to form scenarios of ZKP verification and usage will have a very good prospect with great potential, and this will be one of the priorities we develop and implement in 2023.

BTW, zCloak is running its own relay on Nostr. Relay address: wss://nostr.zkid.social

MAPO Talk — — DID and Omnichain

On Feb 13, MAPO Talk hosted an AMA to discuss DID and Omnichain. zCloak Network CMO Annabella presented as one of the speakers, among other builders in Web3 and the DID track.

It’s worth mentioning that Annabella shared some ideas about zCloak’s DID system, which is not based on any specific blockchain and thus can be applied in the omnichain scenario. It also enables Web2 data and information to be utilized in the Web3 world. Besides, at zCloak, the storage and computation of user data both happen on users’ local devices, and users have the right to choose from various credential disclosure modes, including Full-Text Disclosure, Selective Disclosure, Digest Disclosure, and Zero-Knowledge Disclosure.

zCloak Community Call

We held a community call on Feb 11, and it was our first attempt to reach our community with Binance Live. zCloak’s community manager Jacky and CMO Annabella presented. We had a wonderful time with around 700 community members, and we really appreciate all the support.

During the call, Jacky briefly recapped on the Christmas Card Event, and introduced details on the event prizes. Annabella previewed zCloak’s plan for a new product launch, in hope to help entities in the real world get its corresponding DID attested to use in the cyberspace. We will introduce the new product thoroughly in next month’s newsletter, and more information will be updated on our official Twitter account.

YouTube Channel

zCloak Whiteboard Episodes

To help users better understand our products, technology, and Web3 identity systems, the zCloak team has created a series of videos called “zCloak Whiteboard Episode”. We hope to cover topics ranging from the history of identity systems to the latest privacy-preserving identity solutions, along with a variety of use cases in both Web2 and Web3 worlds.

We also welcome ideas and topic suggestions from our viewers and the public, so if you want to know about anything related to DID, identity, privacy, and verifiable computation (and many more…), don’t hesitate to comment below our videos. We take your suggestions very seriously and will continue to bring high-quality whiteboard videos to all.
