zCloak Network Partners with LegalDAO to Provide Identity Service to Lawyers
zCloak Network announced that it will work with LegalDAO to provide privacy-preserving identity service to lawyers. The collaboration will focus on decentralized identity, credential attestation, and data privacy protection, etc.
LegalDAO is a community that brings global lawyers and enthusiastic participants together. LegalDAO’s missions are to perfect the legal framework, make rules, establish industrial standards, help resolve disputes and uphold order and justice for Web 3.0. Currently, LegalDAO is trying to establish a protocol that enables a decentralized “SEC” for Web3.0. But they are facing a problem — how can they prove that their registered members are qualified legal practitioners, to people whom they have never met, or even to a smart contract or a protocol?
The first problem zCloak Network can help LegalDAO solve is to prove the qualification of its member lawyers. With the help of its first product — the zkID.app — zCloak Network helps lawyers to establish their DID on multiple blockchains. This digital identity will function as an avatar of a lawyer in cyberspace, and their real-world qualifications (e.g., legal license, professional experience) will be linked to it.
The link of real-world information to a DID is made possible by verifiable credentials. In this case, LegalDAO can establish a top-down trust model to attest to the qualification of its members. And its members can subsequently perform more complicated attestations for the crypto industry, such as evaluation of assets, due diligence report of project founders, and investigations of DAOs, etc.
In more advanced use cases, clients of these lawyers can use their attestations in a privacy-preserving manner. For example, DAOs can prove their treasury is above a certain number without disclosing the exact portfolio. In another case, project founders can prove that they have certain education or work experience without giving away too many details. For this purpose, zCloak Network leverages zero-knowledge proof technology to provide a unique set of protocols and infrastructure for its users to perform verifiable computations on their own device.
