zkID Wallet Account Migration Tutorial
When there is a major version update to our zkID Wallet that requires you to complete a DID account migration, you can refer to this tutorial to complete the process.
1.Export DID file
In the browser extension, click on zkID Wallet:
Enter the password and unlock:
Click on your ‘Account’
Click on ‘Manage DID’
Click on this button to export the DID file which will be downloaded locally.
2.Disable the existing expansion
Follow the order shown to the manage extension page.
Bring the slider to the closed state (You are disabling this older version of zkID Wallet).
3.Install the latest version of the extension and import your DID(s)
Follow this link to the chrome web store for the latest zkID Wallet: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zkid-wallet/ahkpfejaeoepmfopmbhjgjekibmfcfgo?hl=en-US
Add it to Chrome.
Don’t forget to pin the zkID Wallet to the browser extension.
Import via Recovery Phrase
Click on ‘Import DID Account’ to start the import process. (Feel free if you want to create a new account.)
If you have your recovery phrases, you can import your account by entering them:
Set a password for your latest version of zkID Wallet extension, and your account is imported successfully.
You can create more accounts under the control of this same set of recovery phrases. (This part works similarly to MetaMask.)
Import via DID-Keys files
If you only have your DID file saved, without your recovery phrases, you can still import your previous account.
First, create a new account to activate your wallet.
Set a password and keep it in mind.
Click on the profile photo to manage your wallet.
Click on ‘Import Account’.
Import your DID-Keys file, then enter the file password (password to your wallet before this update) and wallet password (the password you just set for this latest version of wallet).
4.Import Verifiable Credentials via the Credential Platform
Login Credential Platform (https://cred.zkid.app/), then import the required Verifiable Credentials (VC) into the zkID wallet.
After a successful operation, you can see your VC in your wallet.
(If your VCs don’t show up, you can check your former messages by clicking the upper right hand bell sign, and click on the credential issuance messages to recover them.)
